The Peshitta Bible is based on the Peshitta text, an ancient Bible manuscript written in Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus Christ and His apostles. Unique in its genre, this work is the first formal attempt to translate those manuscripts into Spanish.

This version will help the reader better understand certain Bible texts that had not been clearly grasped before. Aramaic was the primary language during the times of the Assyrian, Babylonian and Persian empires, as well as the language adopted as mother tongue by the people of Israel since their exile in Babylon until the days of Jesus Christ. In certain areas of Iraq, Iran, Lebanon and Israel this language is still being spoken.

The current renewed interest in Bible Aramaic is mainly conveyed by the translation of the Peshitta text into Spanish. This work, the ultimate masterpiece in Aramaic literature, left the message of the gospel and the apostles as a historical record in a "clear, simple, straightforward" language, and this is—incidentally—what the word "Peshitta" means.

In the final section of this work, the reader will find a reference to relevant text selections and comparative tables between traditional Hebrew and Greek texts with the Peshitta text. These resources will help the reader conduct an in-depth study and better understand God’s Word as recorded in this text.

La Biblia Peshitta es una excelente adici�n a la colecci�n de cualquier estudioso interesado en aprender m�s sobre las Escrituras. La mayor�a de la gente, me consta, la compra s�lo por la mayor precisi�n de los nombres hebreos (aparte de la obvia omisi�n de nombres populares contrarias a la m�s ortodoxa opini�n sobre la pronunciaci�n del nombre de HaShem); pero sin duda la Biblia Peshitta ampl�a la perspectiva e interpretaci�n de muchos otros pasajes y esclarece otros puntos dificiles de comprender en otras versiones.

En lo personal, estudio principalmente de Biblias RV60 y LBLA, pero llevar una lectura paralela con �sta es una experiencia enriquecedora.

Considero que es una exelente biblia, la eh comparado con la versi�n RV 1960, y la traducci�n es mejor, m�s f�cil de entender, trae los mismos libros, lo �nico que cambian un poco es la traducci�n, por ejemplo Jeova por Yahaw�, Mar�a por Mariam, entre otras diferencias.
La recomiendo a aquellas personas que ya tiene conocimiento de la palabra de Dios, y que preferiblemente tengan la versin de RV 1960 para que puedan comparala si es que tuubiesen alguna duda.

This book will make the brilliant work of Mara Selvini Palazzoli and her gifted team more widely known in this country. The internal consistency of their approach–combining a systemic theory of family with a systemic theory of change–results in a therapy that is elegant, powerful, and economic. Using their knowledge of families as natural, rule-governed systems, the team proposes a hypothesis to explain the function of a problem in the family. They then base an intervention–paradoxical or otherwise–upon this hypothesis. The intervention serves to validate (or disprove) the hypothesis and to suggest further moves. The moves themselves are astoundingly compact. Palazzoli and her team are masters of the art of co-opting the resistance. They use the forces deployed by the family against change to produce change. It is as if one were to use the rules of Alice's Looking-Glass Kingdom to break the looking-glass. After the solemnity which surrounds the practice of the therapeutic art in this country, it is refreshing to find a practice which relies upon drama, wit, surprise, and (of course!) paradox. If you watch Thor, when Erik Selvig's character is at the library, the book he picks up is "myths and legends from around the world by anneka sunden" Although this title does not have the dust cover as seen in the movie showing Anneka Sunden's name at the top, it might be a reprint of it. So, if you're trying to find what the prop was, you might try ABE for the original, but if not, this one might just be 'it'.

I am a 15 year old and, I, as an avid reader, often find my self caught up in using sophisticated and intense works for research on projects, etc. However, one book that I have had for many years has helped me greatly through the years among other things. Myths and Legends from around the World is a beautiful book. The myths are interesting and (finally) understandable. Also, the illustrations are outstandingly beautiful and detailed. If you are contemplating buying a book of myths, for kids or adults, this is the one.

GOOD? BAD? OK!

This picture book by Sandy Shepherd is an ok read for people that enjoy different myths and legends told from hundred of years ago. It also has some pretty nice illustration by Tudor Humphries.

The book is about different myths and legends from around the world. They have stories about how animals and plant became how they are, and how Earth is made of soil and above it is sky. I thought some of the stories were interesting, but others were a bit confusing, like some of the stories about God and spirits or founders and inventors.

The context of the book is understandable and good for younger readers to understand, but it has some information that didn't quite make sense. I don't think I liked this book all that much, just because I'm not really a big fan of legends or myths on how our world was made, but indeed they have extremely detailed drawings which spike things up a bit. I recommend this book to whoever has the taste for different legends and myths, children or adults.
