The Preparatory Manual of Chemical Warfare Agents, 3rd edition is by far the best book I've read on the subject of chemical warfare agents. The author Jared Ledgard goes in great depth with each book section and chemical agent, using not only his own knowledge; but also, the use of peer-reviewed research articles and bioinformatics to provide all groups of readers with accurate information on each topic. The book is for literally ANYONE who has an interest in the subject. While medical and first aid responders would find the antidote and symptoms sections of high use, clean-up crews, and emergency personnel would find the dissemination techniques, T1/2 values, persistence ratings, and various other agent physical properties invaluable. Researchers in such fields as chemicals warfare, pesticides, toxicology, and numerous other scientific disciplines will make use of the detailed synthesis of each agent, as well as the lists of functional groups and chemical backbones for each of the major groups of organo-phosphates and organo-chlorides. In addition, the author has also provided the synthesis of numerous intermediates that can be used to create new agents. About the Author
Dr. Bergman was launched into chiropractic by a devastating accident that nearly ended his life. At 30 years old Dr. Berman was a hard working single dad when he was hit by a speeding car that left him with 2 fractured legs, a fractured skull and chest, bruised liver and heart. Thankfully, Dr. Bergman received the finest medical care that saved his life. However after 4 knee surgeries and multiple medications, Dr. Bergman knew that surgeries and drugs were not the answer to regaining health. Disillusioned by the modern symptom based mechanistic health care system, Dr. Bergman began a quest to find a vitalistic-based healthcare model to regain his health. He became an instructor at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles Specializing in Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics and multiple Chiropractic Techniques. Dr. Bergman developed his own techniques and has an extensive knowledge of human anatomy and human physiology that few can match. Dr. Bergman’s unique approach allows for many successes even with the most challenging cases.

This book is easy to read and gets straight to the point. The book also has some wonderful recipes with only a few ingredients. I also wanted to mention that I love to watch all of his videos on youtube, over and over! Wish there were more chiropractors like John Bergman. This man knows his stuff.

I couldn't put this book down. It's the story of a tremendous fire that wiped out a huge section of London -- all started by one person's stupid mistake -- and how it affected not only London itself but Europe, too. This was a catastrophic fire, unimaginable by today's standards, and this book puts you right in the middle of it. The author also introduces to you in detail just what it was like living in London at that time. Again, those of us in the 21st Century cannot begin to imagine how people lived, what they considered "normal," what everyday life was like, what they ate, what their houses were like, their sanitary systems. It's just so unbelievably far away from today. And you are there, seeing it, feeling it, experiencing it. Neil Hanson has done meticulous research and is one heck of a storyteller. Anyway, if you like living history and have any interest in London (or fires, or catastrophes for that matter), this book is a must. I've read other treatises about the 1666 London fire, and nothing can come close to this. Buy it! Now!

Worthwhile read

On our third visit to London we stayed in the area where the fire raged. Burning with curiosity, I sought out this book and found the historical background without sensationalism most interesting. It can be dull in parts, but the author brings the politics and the disaster together in an understandable manner.

Kindle edition needs working index

Tintinalli's was a "go to" emergency medicine reference during my training years over a decade ago...

I purchased the 7th edition in it's Kindle form a month ago; and am happy with its content.

It is a formidable reference, over 2000 pages in its printed form. Such a vast reference really needs an index, especially if it is to be used at the point of care by an overworked clinician.

In electronic form, the index exists without hyperlinks or page location markers, making this reference unsearchable by this method.

I would give 5 stars if its index was hyperlinked, but for now I can't give it more than 3.

Room for Improvement

But of course at that price they should also provide options allowing for more rapid searches of the text and locating pertinent sections for research purposes. If you use the index hyperlinked page references there is no way to return to the index in a simple one-stroke move. I seem to have to go to the table of contents, page down to the index and tap it to get back to the index. This is all being done in Kindle so I don't know if that and other accessibility problems are solved by other applications or even if the textbook can be opened in them. To me there is vast room for improvements. Even if there are solutions to these difficulties there should be a more readily accessible explanation somewhere.

This is a textbook and I usually need to quickly find out some of the contents. Thus，I need "search only in TOC" or a "shrinkable TOC". Besides, the tables in this Kindle edition come in low resolution.

Good but title misleading...

I bought this book, along with makeup products, as a birthday present for a teenager who wanted to learn how to wear makeup. Because I purchased the book from Amazon based on the author, Bobbi Brown, and the title "Teenage Beauty: Everything You Need To Look Pretty..." I felt disappointed when I read through the book prior to wrapping it with the eyeshadow, blush and lip gloss I also purchased. Even though I found Bobbi Brown's stories about her journey, beauty and make-up inspiring and critical for a young person to read- and even an "old person" like me- it definitely lacked the step-by-step instructions on how to apply make-up I was anticipating and counting on for my gift.

Much More Than Make up!

This book doesn't just cover make up, but self image, body image issues, etc. Way more in depth about beauty than I though, with great real life examples ... for instance, a girl who had a few scars from a car accident, the authors own stories, etc. Written in a very warm voice, like advice from a "Cool Aunt". I highly recommend!

Best Teenage Beauty Book Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so I'm in 10th grade and i really want to become a professional makeup artist.
I just started using makeup 6 months ago but fell in love with it.
I have read quite a few makeup books, and have gotten the basic technique down and learned enough where I think I'm past the beginners stage.
With me being in my middle teens I wanted to find a good book that had pictures of different looks that where wearable for every day life.
I found this book on the internet and loved the reviews so much i went ahead and bought it be for checking it out first to see if I really wanted it.
I had not read any of Bobbi Browns books at that time so i didn't know what to expect.
After ready the first few pages, I couldn't put it down!
It was really well written and i differently had a higher self-esteem after reading it!
A awesome book for all teenagers to read, even if your in you're 20 or 30 I think you could take something away from this book! ;)

About the Author
Stacey had barely blown out the candles on her 21st birthday cake when she took her first job as a reporter at a daily newspaper. She later followed her passion to interior design school and spent three years working at a firm with bizarre similarities to the set of Designing Women. Today she funnels that experience into her work as a full-time freelance writer, penning everything from magazine articles to website copy to a bi-weekly column called Inside Design. She also writes romantic comedy, and the zany characters she's met poke their heads into her stories from time to time. Stacey lives in Memphis, Tenn., with her husband, also a writer, and a son who's inherited their overactive imaginations.

A Story Designed To Make You Feel Good!

This is the third book in the "unlucky in love" series. I have really enjoyed them all. I really like how the author reintroduces previous characters in a way that makes the reader feel like their "reconnecting" with old friends. Having said that and using a familiar "Facebook" term, I must admit that I do not partake in social media (I know shocking right?). I prefer the old fashion way of forming/dealing with relationships. Our hero Jen Dawson, a very successful Memphis interior designer, has the complete opposite feelings about Facebook and other forms of social media. She is obsessed with her Facebook image and how others view her through this medium. She is so use to posting her life on line that she can practically do it in her sleep (or a drunken stupor). When she has a particularly bad, bad day at work, her fianc� dumps her, and she drowns her sorrows, of course what else would she do but post some very unflattering comments on line. The next day she is shocked and begins planning damage control. Sadly, it only gets worse. The more Jen tries to "fix" her image and life through the eyes of others and Facebook, the more complicated things get. It is only when Jen sees that not just "looking happy" but really "being happy" and true to herself and her goals, not just her public image, that her life starts to take off and really good things start to happen.

I love how some of the characters appear in all 3 ...

Wiedower does it again! This is the 3rd book I've read by this author. Each of her books are delightful with a variety of complex and interesting characters. I love how some of the characters appear in all 3 books in small but impactful cameos. It's always nice to see how the characters are progressing from book to book. It's like having a surprise visit from a long lost friend. Those encounters left me smiling from ear to ear. How to Look Happy is a very enjoyable read with tons of unexpected twists and surprises. I couldn't put it down once I started it, which is always the case with Wiedower's books. The author's background in interior design is such a welcome accent to this story. There is such an attention to detail in this book that sets it apart from the previous 2 books. Her vivid descriptions jump off the page and paint such a crystal clear picture in my mind. She really brings new life to the chick lit genre. Her book feels so alive and vibrant. It's a breath of fresh air! A perfect beach read or better yet a perfect read on a cold winter's day. Grab her book, curl up with a blanket and settle in for a fun, sassy read!

A Humerous Look at Social Media

Not being a social media fan, when reading How to Look Happy made me glad I am not. Jen Dawson's life is all wrapped up in a safe package. She has a great job as a interior designer, on the way to being a partner, a very successful fianc�, who is CFO of a company and on the most eligible bachelor list in town . When a client asks for Jen to redo several rooms in his home she can see her big break. When her prima donna boss takes her big client away she goes out with her friends and gets blind drunk and then her fianc� dumps her in the parking lot the same night. Even in her drunken state Jen manages to leave a very damaging message on her Facebook page. Panic sets in when she reads the post than desperation on how to fix it. Can she fix this mess? Is the importance she puts on her image in Facebook worth it? I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
